Biotechnology, Agrichemicals, and the Value of Life (University of Hawai’i) [1]

Blurb: Using examples from the Poison Papers Jonathan Latham discusses the impacts of industrial agriculture and how regulators have deliberately allowed the toxicifcation of our planet. I then explain how new cultural and scientific understanding can restore justice and integrity to agriculture, food systems, and therefore the planet.

Failing for Forty Years: What the Poison Papers Tell Us About the EPA and How to Reform It (University of Californa San Francisco) [2]

Dr. Jonathan Latham talks about the importance of the 20,000-document Poison Papers collection and how it exposes problems with both the internal culture of the EPA and its legal framework that are often fraught with industry influences that prevent precautionary decision-making, even when the science clearly points to danger.

GMO Hazards to Health and Ecosystems [3]

This video presents an overview of GMOs. How they are made, how that impacts on their safety, and it details some of the specific documented concerns we have. Filmed at the Sierra Club of Binghamton.

What’s in a GMO (part two) – Insecticidal (Bt) Traits – Jonathan Latham PhD 2016 [4]

Cry toxins kill insects that eat GMO crops. The biotech industry claims they are safe because they are natural. Not so says Dr Latham. Link:

The REAL GMO Debate – Michael Hansen PhD & Jonathan Latham PhD 2016 [7]

Hear the “other” side of the GMO debate, beyond the industry talking points.

Does “anti-GMO” = “Anti-Science?” [10]

If you critique GMOs are you anti-science? If you promote GMOs are you pro-science? Jonathan Latham explains in an interview with Bob Schooler.

Genetic Engin-erring: Unintended Consequences in Transgenic Plants [11]

2011 Scientific Conference Presentation by Allison Wilson, PhD of The Bioscience Resource Project. In this video Dr. Wilson describes her work on the unintended consequences (also know as unintended effects) of genetic engineering. Unintended consequences (UCs) have important implications for farmers, scientists and regulators. Documented consequences range from loss of pathogen resistance to yield losses to increases in out-crossing. UCs are often ignored by researchers despite their importance, yet understanding their origins has important implications for basic research on genome structure and gene regulation. Greenwashing and the Food Industry [13]

Video of Dr. Jonathan Latham’s talk at the Rachel Carson Institute [14]‘s Perspectives on Silent Spring at 50 Symposium [15], May 11-12, 2012. His talk can be heard at Greenwashing and the Food Industry [16]. For more information see: Way Beyond Greenwashing: Have Corporations Captured Big Conservation?
