Volunteers

Jonathan R Latham, PhD is co-founder and Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project and the Editor of Independent Science News. Dr Latham is also the Director of the Poison Papers project which publicizes documents of the chemical industry and its regulators. Dr. Latham holds a Masters degree in Crop Genetics and a PhD in Virology. He was subsequently a postdoctoral research associate in the Department of Genetics, University of Wisconsin, Madison. He has published scientific papers in disciplines as diverse as plant ecology, plant virology, genetics and genetic engineering. Dr Latham talks frequently at international events and scientific and regulatory conferences on the research conducted by the Project. He has written for Truthout, MIT Technology Review, the Guardian, Resilience, Salon.com, and many other magazines and websites.

Allison K Wilson, PhD is co-founder and Science Director of the Bioscience Resource Project; Editor of the Bioscience Resource Project website; Assistant Editor of Independent Science News; and a contributor to the Poison Papers project. Dr. Wilson holds a BA in Biology from Cornell University, a doctorate in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Indiana University, Bloomington, and was formerly a postdoctoral research associate at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle and the John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK. Dr. Wilson has published scientific research on plant hormones and flowering time in Arabidopsis, Tetrahymena molecular biology, and plant genetic engineering. She was also a contributing author to the Encyclopedia of Molecular Biology (John Wiley and Sons Inc., 1999).

Kathleen Doerge is a freelance writer and editor. She has taught writing, and managed environmental field projects for over a decade.

Past Volunteers

Ann Mayer edited for the Bioscience Resource Project for many years. She is a retired school teacher and author of four books for young people and numerous periodical articles. Ann has previous editing and grant writing experience. Ann has written a free e-book: Endangered Animals of Nepal — Poems by Ann M. Mayer (with beautiful animal illustrations by youth members of the A-Team for Wildlife). Read the story behind the e-book at: Lynx. In 2017 Ann Published a new e-book: Exotic and Endemic Plants and Animals of Nepal by Ann Mayer.

Pat Dutt was grants coordinator for the Bioscience Resource Project and she coordinated the Project’s attendance at the 2011 Alternatives Gift Fair. Pat is a science and engineering writer.

Lee, Yoke Lee is a freelance editor.  She has three years field experience in community-based fisheries management and co-management of marine protected areas in Malaysia. Additionally, for two years she worked on programmatic  communications and project management in the Coral Triangle that spans six countries in Southeast Asia and the Pacific.

Jayme Hoffman was the Project’s social media and marketing volunteer from 2009 to 2012. Jayme set up and managed Facebook and Twitter for the Project.

Chris Dennis helped with photography and student outreach and he designed outreach materials for ISN. Chris passed away in 2013 and is greatly missed.

Past Consultants

Micky Harris is the Project’s Website Designer. He has set up both the Bioscience Resource Project and the Independent Science News websites. He runs Digital Marketing and Design: http://www.dmdesign.net.

Jo Gravely helped construct the Project website’s photo slide show and many of her photos are featured in the slide show.
