Since its inception, the guiding principal of the Bioscience Research Project has been to provide independent critical analysis of the scientific literature within a public interest context. The Project publishes the results of this analysis in different formats.

Most of the Project’s original commentary and analysis are posted directly on the Project’s Independent Science News website, however the Project also publishes original scientific reviews and science journalism in other venues.

The Project’s biosafety review papers are published in peer reviewed scientific journals. These systematic analyses of the scientific literature provide an evidence-based foundation for addressing key biosafety issues arising from genetic engineering techniques. They provide the rigorous information and analysis needed by those regulators, scientists and nonprofit organizations involved in genetic engineering risk assessment.

The Project also writes articles for the public on topical issues in the biosciences. Their primary purpose is to challenge key scientific misconceptions that negatively impact the public interest.
